ENTERTAINMENT FOR CORPORATE EVENTS
Over the past 30 years, we have produced myriad major concert touring stars for a plethora of events. Here are a couple of examples.

The Kodak Theatre – Jay Leno and Foreigner – Los Angeles, CA
In late December, we were contacted by a very large California corporation who was planning to celebrate their 60th anniversary. JBPG was chosen over an LA production company because of the timely manner in which we responded to all the client’s many questions. The event planner, the executive staff and the owner participated in a conference call to pull everyone’s thoughts together on the most appropriate artists relative to budget and the demographic of the audience of 3400. Prior to that call, our firm conducted research with a dozen major managers throughout the US in order to give the client a point of departure and to fuel their creative juices. Ultimately, the client chose Jay Leno and Foreigner which is a powerhouse combination of artists. Our firm was able to deliver both. We are responsible for all production and logistics with the Kodak Theatre, the IATSE union, outside subs and vendors, the client and the artists’ respective managers. This allows the client to focus on all the other components of their anniversary.

Boca Raton Club and Resort – Kool & The Gang – Boca Raton, FL
AIG/Royal Alliance out of New York retained our firm to book, and produce, the legendary Kool and the Gang for a crowd of 1500 on the beach. Large production shows are extremely difficult to stage in the sand. Further, access to the specific site on the beach was via a narrow, one lane driveway that ran through a sensitive bird sanctuary. The driveway began with asphalt and stopped 50% short of the beach. Our show required 4, semis. Due to the access challenge, we had to be very methodical in which trucks came in first. Once in place, they would not move until the show was over and the take out began. Special all terrain tractors had to be utilized to navigate through the sand which was quite deep and soft. These vehicles had to carry extremely heavy sound and lighting consoles to the master control area about 150’ in front of the stage. The show production came off in time for the sound check with ease and a lot of work. The show was about as high energy a dynamic as we’ve seen throughout our history. The audience danced with abandon in the sand with the ocean licking the beachfront and the smell of salt air invigorating everyone.

The National Building Museum – Natalie Cole – Washington, D.C.
The LPGA Championship hired JBPG to book and produce a major pop artist for this prestigious golf event. Key figures in this event were Barbara Bush (then First Lady) as the chairperson of the affair. After much deliberation, the client settled on Natalie Cole. The National Building Museum is on the Registry of National Historic buildings. It is a stunning building compromise of one giant room one hundred and fifty feet wide by three hundred feet deep including seventy-five foot tall columns. This is your basic nightmare for a sound engineer. Further, there were numerous rules and policies of what could and could not be done in the building owing to its historic nature. This was an event that gets about as complicated as they come. All production set up went according to schedule. During the show, the computerized lighting board did what we call “a dump” which means that all lighting cues were gone in an instant. Our lighting sub immediately switched to manual mode and performed brilliantly with neither the audience nor the artist being none the wiser. The producer, however, was much grayer at the end of the night. JBPG also produced composer Marvin Hamlisch (Chorus Line, The Way We Were, The Sting) in this same building for Kemper Insurance some years later.
