“It is difficult to know the answer when one does not understand the question”…Spock

So, you’re probably asking, “What is the deal with this guy’s blog?  It’s all over the board”

Well, it might seem that way but there is a common thread running through all the various stories in my blog – entertainment and communication.

Over the past three decades and more, I have covered a lot of ground in the areas of entertainment and communication, both in the U.S. and abroad.  These projects include topics such as space exploration, Broadway musicals, ancient Mayan culture, historic preservation and myriad other subjects.  Therefore, JBPG is a multidimensional entertainment and communications company capable of bringing the enormous power of the industry to bear to develop, interface and implement  campaigns utilizing live entertainment, state of the art production and staging, multimedia, film and television.

The point here is that I have developed a very wide range of expertise as an entertainment producer and writer gained from work on:

  • dozens of Broadway touring plays and musicals
  • international performing arts including dance, symphonic, classical, avant garde
  • hundreds of major concert touring stars including music, comedy and variety
  • writing the libretto for a Broadway musical about the life of Busby Berkeley
  • restoring the Paramount Theatre in Austin a National Historic Registry building
  • developing programming projects touting human space exploration to reignite interest in the U.S. space program

The basic message is that I grew up in the entertainment industry from the ground up starting as a stand up comic, musical comedy actor, writer, director and producer for over 30 years – both public concerts and private events – in every type of venue on the planet.  I know the live entertainment industry backwards and forwards.

Conversely, most corporate entertainment companies have an extremely limited knowledge of the artists that are out there for a given event.  Their sphere of knowledge is based on re-working the same 50 acts throughout the corporate event industry.  In reality, though, there are 500 acts out there.  Moreover, the ability to put the right act with a specific demographic and audience is an art.  How can a corporate entertainment booker recommend an act that they probably have never seen?  The “performance dynamic”, which is the essence of what a star’s show is actually like, is a critical element in the decision making process of choosing the right artist that supports the atmosphere the planner wishes to create.

Therefore, the point of the “blog” is to communicate the vast array of projects and our interests which cover the length and breadth of the entertainment industry.  It is that expertise which is available to you as the ultimate resource for your events, concerts, campaigns and all points in between.  Beyond the towering intellect, we are PHUN!  Please see our blog article on “Hootie and the Blowfish”.
